The inception of our luxury hospitality company was inspired by the transformative period during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led Terry to reevaluate how he spent his time and what truly mattered. This reflection sparked a desire to bridge the gap from being a high operations professional to helping people create moments that matter.

Terry Salmond - Owner and Private Chef in Kitchener-Waterloo & Surrounding Areas

Terry Salmond, the esteemed Chef and Owner of Lighthouse Culinary Services, is a culinary maestro with over 20 years of experience in some of the most prestigious kitchens across the country. His journey in the culinary world includes training at two Relais & Chateau properties and working at renowned establishments such as Langdon Hall, Susur Restaurant, Sonora Resort, and Movenpick Marche. Terry's expertise in crafting exceptional in-home dining experiences has been honed over a decade as a corporate executive chef and private chef.

One of Terry's most notable achievements was being a finalist on Top Chef Canada Season 4 in 2014. His culinary prowess has also earned him accolades such as the CAA Diamond designation and being named Reader's Choice Favorite Chef four times in the region. Additionally, he was nominated for the Hostelry Institute's Top 30 Under 30, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the culinary arts.

Following his tenure at Relais & Chateau, Terry served as the Executive Chef at the prestigious Walper Hotel, further advancing his career. He then became the Corporate Executive Chef for the Charcoal Group, where he gained valuable expertise in culinary management and restaurant operations.

Terry is not only passionate about cooking but also about giving back to the community. He has been actively involved in fundraising initiatives with other chefs and volunteers, raising substantial funds for organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, The Kidney Foundation, and The Food Bank in collaboration with CBC.

Outside the kitchen, Terry cherishes spending time with his family and enjoys hiking and camping in Muskoka with his dog, Basil. These moments in nature provide him with peace and relaxation, fueling his creativity and passion for creating unique dining experiences.
